The program seeks to give students opportunities to grow their leadership skills through both instructional sessions and practical activities. During the first few meetings with Mr Deroon, the group is looking at the leadership example of Jesus. Jesus was a servant leader, and He demonstrated the best aspects of leadership in being both an extremely capable individual and one who was able to see and bring out the best in others. Opportunities that will come up during the year include participation in a Model UN and a trip to see the Werribee Tigers precinct. On top of that, the different groups will develop events that our leaders will manage to help grow the culture at Years 7–9.

Our new leaders have started the year very well and have a strong desire to see the culture of Heathdale embed itself even deeper into how we interact every day; a culture where all students feel safe, know they have dignity, and belong. Well done to them, and I am sure the programs they continue to run throughout the year will be an excellent experience for all our Years 7–9 students.
