In Music this term, Year 4 students have been learning about the instrument families, and the layout of the orchestra while exploring the genius of Beethoven's compositions.
The students were amazed to experience front row seats to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven live in the 'Beethoven's Gaming Quest' concert.
Dr Richard Vaudrey pretended to be a game designer who needed dramatic music to suit each of his different gaming levels and worlds. Students enjoyed the explanations of Beethoven pieces and noticed how each one used the elements of music to create different moods which suited the gaming landscapes on the big screen.
"My favourite part was when it went low and high and the 'Ba Na Na Naaaa!' (Beethoven Symphony Number 5)." Hannah
"I noticed that the double basses were really big. I know we saw them in videos in Music class, but I didn't realise they were that big! They make a very low sound." Emma
"I saw a really big harp and I also saw all the brass instruments up the back and strings were at the front." Vedel
"I liked the violins because I saw their fingers on top moving really fast." Alegria
