A cracking late winter's day greeted 32 Melton students from Year 3-6 at the District Athletics Carnival at Melton Athletics track on Thursday 21st August.
Our students were competing against ten other local primary schools across a full suite of track and field events, with a record 9 finishing on the podium to take home 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their event!
Double Double
Caitlin A (Year 5) backed up her exploits from last year with double gold in the 100m and 200m whilst Kaitlyn B (Year 6) added another double gold for Shot Put & Discus to her collection in her final appearance representing Heathdale at the Primary level. The journey will continue for a little while yet as we watch Kaitlyn progress to division and hopefully beyond!
'Old' and New Faces
Jaiden A (Year 3), who was competing at his first District carnival, came home with a 1st in the 800m and 3rd in 100m, joining his older sister Caitlyn in her fondness for collecting ribbons. Elijah M (Year 6), Elisha S (Year 6), Naomi L (Year 6), Liliana N (Year 5), Elizaketh S (Year 4) & Emily P (Year 5) all managed to get to the podium in their events. Well done all and thank you for your consistent efforts over the Years, Grade 6s!
