Science Week kicked off with a student-led assembly that left the room buzzing, thanks to the Science Committee and their exciting theme, 'Decoding the Universe – Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language.'

Open to any student with a passion for science, the committee welcomed everyone—no academic requirements, just enthusiasm.

The assembly began with a warm welcome from Tarush, followed by a lively Taskmaster-style game hosted by Jacinta. A breaking news video revealed the week’s escape room mystery and introduced a lunchtime science scavenger hunt. Rose then spoke about the week’s theme and officially launched the Science Week 2025 challenge.

With mugshots of participating teachers adding to the fun, the room was filled with laughter, curiosity and a sense of adventure as students prepared to explore science in creative and collaborative ways.

"I’ve always been passionate about science and wanted to be part of something that brings it to life for others. Joining the committee felt like a great way to contribute creatively and help make science fun and accessible for everyone at school." Tarush, Science Committee Member

"Students have responded well during the activities and have loved trying to find the puzzles and seeing who the killer is—their weapon and their motivation. The students have loved the suspect posters that are around the school, which have helped engage students to come and compete, as well as the promotion video, which got lots of students very excited. I remember putting up Mrs Harsono’s suspect poster in her homeroom, A25, and a couple of students in her homeroom came down to give it a go. We also got a lot of interest from students in Year 7 and 8, who came down and used their brainpower to decode all of the clues. One memorable moment was seeing a wide range of different year levels come and help decode the universe, whether they were Year 7s or Year 12s." Katarina, Science Committee Member
