The Melton Senior Boys Volleyball team proudly represented Heathdale Christian College at the 2025 Christian Schools Volleyball Championships, finishing in 4th place overall after a series of thrilling and hard-fought matches.
The boys were drawn in a challenging pool that featured some of the tournament’s strongest competition, including the eventual Gold Medal winners, Glen Waverley Christian College. Despite the tough opposition, the Melton side showed resilience and determination, securing their place in the elimination rounds with 2 draws and 1 loss.
The knockout phase began with a decisive win against Edinburgh, where Melton displayed composure under pressure and capitalised on strong serving and teamwork to advance.
Momentum continued to build in the next clash against Lighthouse Christian College. In a gruelling three-set battle, the boys showed grit and focus to come out on top, booking their place in the semi-finals.
In a highly anticipated match against Heathdale Christian College Werribee Senior Boys, Melton fought bravely for a chance to reach the Gold Medal match. In what proved to be a tournament classic, both teams pushed each other to the limit over three sets. Despite their best efforts, Melton narrowly went down, ending their dream run toward the final.
The final challenge came in the Bronze Medal match against St Andrews Christian College. Once again, the boys battled hard, but St Andrews proved too strong on the day. Melton ultimately finished in 4th place overall – a remarkable achievement considering the calibre of teams in the draw.
The campaign was a testament to the team’s growth, resilience and belief in each other. To not only compete with, but to challenge, some of the best volleyball schools in the championships highlights the immense potential of this group.
Special thanks to Mr Johnny Williams for his amazing work coaching the team.
