Awards of Honour
Recently, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of some of our elite athletes. These awards have been named after past students who represented the school at a high standard and appreciated the privilege it was to be selected into a team to compete for their school. They competed with fair play, a sense of pride and a high skill level.
I would like to recognise the high performances of the following students:
The Hart Award for excellence in Athletics - Sebastian Panakkal
The Greenhough Award for excellence in Basketball - Holly Dolny
The Shelev Award for excellence in Swimming - Zoe Lewczuk
The Hodges Award for excellence in Volleyball - Zane Tullio
The Jackson Award for excellence in Aerobics - Fearne McDonogh
The Simcoe Award for excellence in Netball - Lucy Butcher
Volleyball Champions
Congratulations to the Senior Boys' volleyball team who competed and won their division in the Western Region Volleyball Summer Season competition held at Maribyrnong Secondary College this past term. These boys have shown such commitment to the sport and their teammates, that the win was a worthy accomplishment. It has been a pleasure to see the team continue to play without being run by the school. A very big thank you goes to team manager Mrs Tullio who organised the boys each week, for without your commitment and support the boys would not have been able to play.
I wish the boys every success in the coming year.
Netball Champions
Congratulations also to the Heathdale Hedgehogs - an U11 netball team, who were victorious in the Hoppers Crossing Netball Association competition and were coached by Year 9 student Lara Wilson. This team is made of Years 5-6 girls who have played competitively throughout the season. A special mention to Paige McDonogh for being awarded best on court for the final and Best and Fairest for the season! Congratulations players, parents and coaches.
Aeroschools Championships
Students from Years 3-10 represented Heathdale Christian College at the Australian Aeroschools Championships in Queensland during the last two days of Term 3. These students had been practicing all year and gave up their lunchtimes and time after school to perfect their routines and improve their skills.
The teams earned the privilege to compete in the national competition by first qualifying at the State Championships.
