Our students have enjoyed an outstanding season of interschool sport, demonstrating teamwork and excellence across athletics and basketball competitions.

Athletics

At the Division Athletics Competition at Newport Park, our Werribee athletes competed strongly against talented students from across the region. Feyi won the 12 Girls 100m in 14.03 seconds and placed 3rd in Long Jump, while Jonah finished 2nd in the 11 Boys 1500m in 5:29.98. Both have progressed to the next round.

Other strong results included Temi, who placed 3rd in the 12 Girls 200m, the 12 Girls Relay Team, which finished 2nd, and the 9/10 Girls Relay Team, which placed 3rd.

At another Primary Division Athletics Championships, nine Heathdale Melton athletes braved freezing rain and icy winds, with four earning podium finishes. Blake placed 1st in the 200m and 3rd in Triple Jump, Emily finished 2nd in Long Jump, Merkela placed 2nd in Shot Put, and Dale secured 3rd in Discus.

Blake, Emily and Merkela have now qualified for Regionals, where they will compete against leading athletes from across western Victoria.

Hooptime

More than 70 Year 3 and 4 students, supported by 20 secondary student coaches, represented Heathdale Werribee across 10 teams at Keilor Basketball Stadium. The All Star Girls claimed a thrilling Grand Final victory by just one point, while the Future Star Girls won their Grand Final by three points. The All Star Boys also performed strongly, finishing runners-up after a hard-fought Grand Final.

Our Year 5 and 6 Werribee students continued Heathdale’s Hooptime success at Altona Basketball Stadium, with more than 70 students competing across 11 teams. The Future Stars Girls secured a tense one-point Grand Final victory, earning a place in the next round.

The Year 5 All Stars Boys won two of their three pool games before claiming a thrilling semi-final with a late buzzer-beater. They then held their nerve to win the Grand Final by one point and progress to the next round. The Year 6 All Stars Boys also won two of their three pool matches, narrowly missing the finals on percentage, while one of our Future Stars Boys teams reached the semi-finals.

Congratulations to all students who represented Heathdale. We are proud of the skill and sportsmanship they displayed in every competition.
