Mathematics came to life for our Year 7 and 8 students through engaging and interactive activities that made problem-solving both fun and challenging.

Year 7 students enjoyed the annual Maths Show, which explored the development of mathematics in Ancient Babylon and Ancient Greece. Our presenter, Louisa, impressed the audience by reciting the first 40 digits of pi and demonstrating fascinating maths games. A highlight of the show was seeing King 'Michael' represent the Year 7 students in telling the story of the final puzzle, the Bridges of Königsberg. The show was both entertaining and educational, reinforcing the idea that, as the presenter said, "Mathematics is the best word in the world!"

Meanwhile, Year 8 students embarked on a mathematical journey around the ‘world’—or rather, the campus—solving puzzles in teams. With only three teams managing to complete every challenge, the activity proved to be both stimulating and a fun way to engage with maths.
