“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:7-11)

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your name is above every other name, and whoever calls upon Your name shall be saved. We praise You, for You alone are the fount of every blessing, the wellspring of every good and perfect gift, and the ultimate source of all wisdom.

Our Father, we need Your guidance as we look not only for today, but for all of our days yet future. You promised that You would instruct us and teach in the way we should go, and that You would counsel us with Your eye upon us. We long to lean upon You and trust You with all our hearts, so help us not to rely on our own understanding, but rather depend only You. Make our paths straight and clear and guide us into truth by Your Holy Spirit.

Our Father, we ask that Your guiding words would be a lamp to our feet and light to our path. We look to You alone to guide us continually, to satisfy our hearts when we are in difficult and scorched places, and make our bones strong so that we will be like a well-watered garden. May our ears be ever attentive to recognise Your voice saying, “This is the way, walk in it.”

Help us to know Your way, O LORD; teach us Your pathways and lead us in Your truth – for You are the God of our salvation and for You we will wait all the day long. We praise You that whenever we lack direction and wisdom, we can ask, and You will give generously to all without reproach.

We rejoice in You LORD, for You are our rock and our fortress; and for Your name’s sake You lead us and guide us (Psalm 31:3).

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
