While learning about school life and settling in, Preps at both campuses have entirely enjoyed time as mathematicians. Students in each class have been carefully counting and diligently collecting data, in addition to precisely measuring with hands-on materials. In Week 3, students learned that skilled mathematicians follow specific rules. This is especially true when they measure the length of objects. They used a hands-on approach, directly comparing the lengths of all items by physically moving each one and aligning them side by side from the same starting point. Also, to compare the exact height and length of two well-known objects, students used mathematical language like "longer than,” “taller than,” and “shorter than.” Throughout the unit, students participated in multiple hands-on, interactive activities, allowing them to thoroughly understand and strengthen their skills.
