During our Year 10 PE excursion, students attended a lawn bowling session at the Melton Bowling Club. The aim was to introduce them not only to a different sport but also to new ways of staying active.
Students learned about the pathways available in lawn bowling and discovered that, with less emphasis on high levels of fitness and more focus on enjoyment and social connection, it is possible to progress to a competitive level—even internationally.
They were taught the fundamental techniques of bowling and had the opportunity to practice these skills in friendly competition against one another. The session concluded with small rewards, adding to the fun and encouraging participation.
