Junior Jottings

Lovely to meet our parents at the Information Night as we transition into Primary School.

Heathdale flower

We enjoyed meeting with Year 2-5 parents and guardians at our 2020 Primary Information Night. We had the opportunity to introduce Primary staff leaders and discuss some of the activities, themes and student learning programs which will begin in the new year. We are excited about the opportunities ahead, described by our Heads of Learning Modules, Mrs Cathy Ward and Mr Joe Haworth. Both of these leaders bring a passion and vision for a high standard of Christian Education to continue to be delivered to the benefit of each of our students. Correspondence will soon be sent home to all families with regard to what is planned as we look forward to the new school year.

Our last swimming groups conclude this week and it has been a joy to see each student do their best in gaining water confidence and acting responsibly and safely. We recommend the importance of water safety and developing student abilities around water, particularly as the summer holidays approach. Several local pools offer holiday swim schools for students which you may wish to inquire about for your child.
We have ahead of us some busy, exciting and energetic weeks as we prepare for our celebrations for the end of year. Our students’ musical practices are a delight to hear throughout the school, and I am sure you are all looking forward to joining your child as they perform at their concerts. Please keep in touch with your child’s teacher for more information about the end of the year matters that relate to your child.
May you continue to know the Lord’s peace and joy as we prepare for the end of our school year.

Parents as Partners

As in past years, we have been very blessed this year to have a dedicated group of people faithfully come in each week to listen to students read, encourage them and to assist teachers change student take home books. This Parents as Partners program will finish for the year on Friday 15th November. Your kind assistance and fervent encouragement has been invaluable to us and is very much appreciated.

Chickenpox

We have had some confirmed cases of chickenpox in the Junior School amongst some children even though immunisations have taken place. Symptoms of chickenpox can include a low-grade fever, general discomfort, a skin rash or spots, which may become itchy. Chickenpox is very easy to catch and students with chickenpox should not return to school until the last blister has dried. If your child becomes ill please take them to your local doctor for assessment. Thank you to parents who have kept us informed about such health matters so we can inform other parents to be alerted.
