'Jofus and the Plank' Inspires Drama Students

Drama students across both our Melton and Werribee were captivated by 'Jofus and the Plank,' a high-energy performance that brought physical theatre, mime and clowning to life in an unforgettable way.

Drama students in Years 9 and 10 from both the Werribee and Melton campuses enjoyed watching the performance 'Jofus and the Plank.' The show combined physical theatre, mime and clowning—styles students are currently exploring in class—making it a valuable live theatre experience.

This semester, Year 9 Drama students will use the performance as inspiration to create their own mime and clown-style physical theatre pieces. Meanwhile, Year 10 students will devise a physical theatre piece incorporating Basel masks, exaggerated theatrical masks that encourage play and imagination while emphasising movement over dialogue.

Students were highly engaged by the performer’s incredible energy, comic timing and characterisation.
