Last week, a group of Year 12s gathered in our Board room with varying levels of anticipation, excitement and nervousness, waiting to hear who would be entrusted with one of the most significant student leadership responsibilities at our Werribee campus.
The journey to selecting our 2027 College Captains began with student nominations from our Year 9-11 cohort, based on who they believed had the character and ability to be a great leader. Our Secondary staff then provided feedback on all student nominations received, which helped us narrow down a shortlist of 9 candidates to interview.
It was heartwarming to read about how these students have earned the respect of those around them, not only because of what they achieve, but because of how they have demonstrated the courage to lead, encourage and serve. This reflects the values we seek to cultivate in every student at Heathdale.
It was a great pleasure to announce our 2027 College Captains, Nathan Mitchell and Ava Tsolis, and College Vice-Captains, Danian Chiuta and Eva Fellows.
These students have shown years of steady growth during their time with us at Heathdale. They are testament to the many staff members who have taught, encouraged, challenged and prayed for these young people throughout their journey.
As our newly appointed College captains prepare for an undoubtedly busy year ahead, we invite you to join us in congratulating them and praying for them. We pray that God will grant them wisdom, humility, courage and a heart for service as they seek to lead our student community well.
