The pages of imagination were once again brought to life as this year’s Book Week took centre stage, captivating the hearts and minds of our Melton Campus. The wonderful theme of 'Read, Grow, Inspire' has encouraged us all to delve into the fantastic worlds of books, to meet new characters, or to discover new adventures being taken by familiar ones. We have spent the term reading and exploring the CBCA shortlist books and along with it created some beautiful and inspired work, which can be seen on display in the library.

The Book Week dress up day and parades last Tuesday were undoubtedly one of the highlights of the week. Students and teachers donned costumes, many of which were homemade imaginative creations, inspired by their favourite characters from literature, transcending the boundaries of reality and stepping into the shoes of the beloved book characters. The parades commenced in the Auditorium, with the Prep-Year 2s, followed by the Years 3-6. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement as each class paraded around the catwalk to upbeat music, cheered on by the large number of family and friends in attendance.

The winners of our Prep-Year 6 colouring in competition were announced and awarded their prizes.

The fun didn’t stop with the parade. Throughout the week, a number of activities were organised to engage students of all ages. An enjoyable and popular competition open to all staff and students throughout the week was our “Match the Teacher to Their Favourite Children’s Book”. Every Primary student created a leaf to add to our tree in the library to fit in with this year’s theme. The Prep-Year 2s wrote their favourite book on the leaf and the Years 3-6 wrote what book has inspired them and why. Today, all Primary students will go on an adventure as we have our much-anticipated Book Week Incursion ‘Way Too Cool’, an original musical performed by Perform Education!

Thank you to the staff and all those involved who helped make this year’s Book Week a huge success. All in all, it has been a wonderful week of celebration, reading, growing, and inspiring!
