Honouring Melton's First Graduating Class

From a prayer breakfast and heartfelt assemblies to the inaugural Valedictory Dinner, the past two weeks have been a time of reflection and celebration for Melton's Class of 2025 as they step into their next chapter.

Our Year 12 students have had a significant last two weeks, from finishing classes to celebrating their Valedictory Dinner before going into the current exam period.

On Friday 17th October, we began the Class of 2025 celebrations with a prayer breakfast for parents, students and staff associated with the examination and transition period. This event was a precious time of reflection, encouragement and prayer.

Following the breakfast, we held the Year 12 Final Assembly, which was the first event in honouring our Year 12 students and marking the start of their transition towards graduation, which will take place at the Thanksgiving and Graduation Service on Friday, 5th December.

At the assembly, Year 12 teachers read letters reflecting on the identity of each individual student. The assembled audience of all secondary students, staff and parents of Year 12 students bore witness to the encouragement and edification of these students. There were tears, adulation, humour and honour in a display of affection and appreciation.

Then, the Year 12s gathered with the Preps and Year 6s for an assembly to mark the end of the Class of 2025’s schooling with a special gift-giving ceremony involving our youngest and oldest Primary students. This assembly included a time of reflection and dreaming, where Year 6s and Year 12s looked into a mirror before sharing with the audience who they see today and who they aspire to become.

At the Valedictory Dinner on Monday 20th October, we commenced a tradition of parents and students sharing letters of reflection and appreciation. This springs from our desire as a school to recognise the families as the essential element of the evening.

When parents made their decision to enrol at Heathdale Christian College, it almost certainly a values driven choice that was aspirational for the future. It is appropriate to share reflection at the conclusion of that journey.

The evening was a great success with each student being honoured individually, and as part of a history making cohort of students.
