Heathdale Melton Competes in the 2026 Wynspeak Competition

Four Secondary students from our Melton Campus competed in Wynspeak, a youth public speaking competition. Well done to Michael, who is now set to compete in the Wynspeak final!

On Thursday 14 May 2026, HCC Melton students, Michael A (Year 11), Aarya P (Year 10), Eli Y (Year 9) and Kiara T (Year 9), competed in Round 5 of the 2026 WynSpeak competition held at Bacchus Marsh Grammar School.

Michael and Aarya represented the College in the Senior section, delivering thoughtful speeches on 'The beauty and power of words' and 'Lessons from indecision, perfection and doubt.' In the Junior section, Eli spoke on 'True friendship,' while Kiara explored 'Emotions v. Personality.' Each student demonstrated strong preparation and confidence in presenting their ideas.

Sixteen students from six schools competed in this round, and the standard of both the prepared four-minute speeches and the 90-second short notice responses was exceptionally high. It was the strongest round of WynSpeak that HCC Melton students have participated in.

Excitingly, Michael won the round for the prepared speech and will advance to the WynSpeak final at Thomas Carr College in early June.
