On 11th May 2023, our Melton campus fielded its first team of secondary students into the WynSpeak public speaking competition round held at Bacchus Marsh Grammar.

WynSpeak is divided into two age categories – Junior (Years 7-9) and Senior (Years 10-12). Since HCC – Melton presently goes up to Year 10, we were able to present students in the Junior and lower Senior areas. Laura Cook (Year 10) anchored the team through representing in the Senior category, while Michael Apps (Year 8), Aarya Patel (Year 7) and Joey Apps (Year 7) rounded out the team in the Junior category.

All students spoke well in their 4-6-minute prepared speech round and ably handled themselves in the impromptu (short notice) speech round. We are proud to announce that, Michael Apps, in his first public speaking competition, delivered the winning speech in the impromptu category!

Our brave students not only represented the College, their families and themselves well, but also gained valuable experience by observing and participating in this challenging interschool competition. They also became imbued with great enthusiasm to excite others and participate again in the future.

Well done HCC-Melton!
