GRIP Leadership Conference 2026

Primary student leaders from both our Melton and Werribee campuses gained valuable insights into leadership, integrity and service at the recent GRIP Leadership Conference.

On 26 April, our Primary Captains from both the Werribee and Melton campuses attended the GRIP Leadership Conference. It was a fabulous day for our students to learn more about what it means to be a good leader and what good leaders do. Here are some of their reflections:

"At the conference, we learnt about leadership and faced different challenges, with volunteers chosen by the presenters running the conference. I made a new friend called Emily, and she was very nice. My favourite thing about the conference was learning good ways to lead, like the 5 A’s: always tell the truth; aim for high standards; apologise for mistakes; act according to your values; and ensure your actions match your words. There was also an activity where we interacted with leaders from other schools. We learnt about serving the needs of others, role modelling the school values and taking ownership of opportunities." Zoe, Stanway Captain, Werribee Campus

"At the GRIP Leadership Conference, I learnt not to be afraid of new ideas or of presenting them to teachers and leaders at school. However, you should think them through properly. This means your idea shouldn’t be last minute, expensive or unreasonable, and you should also think about safety. As the Year 6 Wellbeing Captain, I think the conference really informed me about decision making and how to set up events." Blake, Wellbeing Captain, Melton Campus

"The GRIP Leadership Conference was a new, fun and exciting experience, as well as a unique opportunity. The day began with us receiving a booklet that had many fun activities to complete. These activities included information about integrity, how to act as a leader, and the responsibilities we have as student leaders. We played many fun games that connected to the questions in the booklet. We socialised, interacted and met other student leaders from different schools. This event helped me learn how to be a better student leader, how to take on responsibilities and how to show integrity. It also showed me that being a student leader isn’t just about having a title; it means the school has chosen you to be a role model for other students." Aadya, Assembly Captain, Melton Campus

"At GRIP, we learnt about how to make connections, how leaders work and how to implement ideas for the school. It was a very informative session with lots of fun activities and stories. It will help us as we continue to grow into more responsible and effective leaders." Rajveer, Primary Captain, Werribee Campus
