Many people are familiar with vocational education as part of TAFE courses post-school, but did you know that Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses also form part of the many VCE subjects available at Heathdale?

VET courses can be taken by both VCE and VCE Vocational Major students, and most of the VET courses offered at Heathdale can also count towards an ATAR score.

Currently, at Heathdale, 132 students are undertaking a VET course across both campuses this year alone! Of our Year 11 students at Werribee, 54% are studying towards a VET qualification as part of their school program.

Through VET in school, students can pursue marketable skills, job-ready qualifications and areas of gifting that go beyond the theoretical and into the practical, real world.

Certificates being studied at our Werribee campus include:

Certificate II in Allied Languages Chinese
Certificate III in Music
Certificate III in Screen and Media
Certificate II in Cookery
Certificate III in Laboratory Skills
Certificate III in Sport and Recreation

VCE students taking a VCE-VET subject not only complete the requirements of the VCE subject, but also gain a nationally recognised qualification they can use for immediate work or as a stepping-stone towards further qualifications in that industry.

There’s no need to wait until school ends before embarking on building your qualifications and honing your skill set for the future.
