On Tuesday 7th October, the Year 11 Legal Studies students, accompanied by Ms Harding and Mr West, took part in the Court Education Program at the Supreme Court of Victoria in Melbourne. The excursion offered students a unique opportunity to see the legal system in action and gain an authentic understanding of how justice is administered in our state.
A highlight of the day was an engaging Q&A session with Justice Kennedy of the Court of Appeal, and her associate. Students asked thoughtful questions about the legal profession, judicial decision-making, and the realities of working within the justice system. Justice Kennedy’s insights and candid reflections gave students a rare glimpse into the life and responsibilities of one of Australia’s most respected legal figures.
Students also observed a live trial presided over by Justice Dixon in the Trial Division, which provided a fascinating look at courtroom procedure and advocacy in practice.
The experience was both educational and inspiring, deepening students’ understanding of the law and its vital role in society. We extend our sincere thanks to the Supreme Court of Victoria for providing such an enriching and memorable learning opportunity.
