We are delighted to report that Thursday's Crazy Hair Day fundraiser was a huge success! Ms. Scherping and the Stanway House leaders led our school community to support those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The Stanway house leaders demonstrated their negotiation skills with myself as the Principal in what they wanted to achieve to help another community. They ran wonderful presentations and we decided Crazy Hair Day would be a lot of fun for a good cause.

“I think holding this fundraiser was important as it raised awareness and helped people in Turkey and Syria while having a bit of fun.” Daniel

“I think it was important to run this fundraisder because it showed the people in Turkey and Syria that that another community is ready to help. The crazy hair and House point rewards encouraged students to bring money and contribute to the fundraiser.” Gauransh

“I think it was important to hold this fundraiser at Heathdale because it encouraged people to give to others but in a fun way with crazy hair!” Mishka

Students and staff showed their creativity and enthusiasm, sporting wild and wacky hairstyles. Seeing the whole school come together for a great cause was heart-warming.

At lunchtime, the Stanway House Leaders asked teachers and students the following what inspired their crazy hair. Here are some of the responses:

“I have green hair today which was inspired by an alien.” Arin 3C

“I have flower hair because of my love of plants!” Miss Ashwin

“I have donuts in my hair as it’s inspired by cute and yummy desserts.” Arianna 3E

“My hair was inspired by lightning and thunder as if I were struck by lightning.” Dahain 6A

As a Christian school, we are called to love our neighbours and serve those in need. In Matthew 25:40, we read, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Through the students' fundraising efforts, I am proud of how they showed love and compassion for those suffering in the aftermath of the earthquakes.

We want to thank Ms. Scherping and the Stanway House leaders for their hard work and dedication in organizing this fundraiser. Their leadership and commitment to service are an inspiration to us all. We hope you liked their marketing material also.

Thank you to everyone who participated and donated; your generosity will significantly benefit those in need. Let us continue to pray for those affected by the earthquakes and seek opportunities to serve those in need.

This is the last newsletter for the term, and it feels that Term 1 has sped by! I could not be happier with how settled the Primary school is. Having conducted many observations this term of staff and students, I can genuinely say we are heading in a wonderful direction that is supportive of learning and nurtures your child’s Christian identity.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a happy Easter and hope you will find some rest in the Jesus and thank Him for dying on the cross so that we could have relationship and eternal life with the Father.
