Hike

"The Year 10 Outdoor Ed hike was a fun, beautiful experience, which included hiking, community, and thoughtfulness about our environment. We experienced difficult inclines and rough trails with heavy weights on our backs, but it was all worth it in the end. The views were amazing and the weather made the hike an awesome experience for our group. Hiking with a good group of people made up for the physical difficulty and overall brought us together." Kethna

"The hike this year was a lot more fun and a lot harder than the Year 9 hike, but the two campsites we stayed at made the hiking worth it. My favourite part of the hike was probably hanging around the beach with friends after eating dinner." Jayden

"The Year 10 hike proved to be a challenge and multiple times throughout, I had wondered why I was even there. The distance walked during the hike was much farther than any distance I would normally walk. Additionally, the added weight of the bag was a pain. It was a struggle to even pick it up. Regardless, I did not regret going. Even with the challenges, simply doing something I was unfamiliar with brought satisfaction. It is always good to try something new." Claire

Rock-Climbing

"We went on a rock-climbing excursion where we used our strength and bravery to complete challenges through fears we may have had. The climbing also required us to use parts of our body that may have been underdeveloped, such as our forearms. Many of these challenges required us to be hanging and holding on to objects with one hand." Zachary

"The rock-climbing excursion was helpful in observing both man-made and natural forms of exercise. We went to both a rock-climbing gym where we were able to experience rock climbing and bouldering. We then went to the You Yangs where we observed natural boulders used for bouldering." Gabriel

"Our rock-climbing excursion was a great way to test our strength and abilities when faced with physical obstacles. There were many difficult walls to climb, which taught us how to stay calm at such heights and be resilient under pressure. The walls went very high and only had minimal places to hold onto or stand on. Bouldering, on the other hand, had shorter walls, which to me were easier and overall more enjoyable. Bouldering at the You Yangs was difficult, but it was nice to see people attempting the climbs." Kethna

The rock-climbing excursion was very fun. I learned how to climb a rock wall and use the safety gear. It was nice spending time with friends instead of being at school, and it was fun because the walls were really high. I couldn’t get to the top because there weren’t enough places to stand on. I also really liked bouldering because you don’t have a harness attached to you, which makes it scarier. You also have to test your physical strength, which was very fun, and it was a really enjoyable excursion." Ana
