The Werribee Campus Secondary Swimming Carnival for 2026 was a relaxed day, with overcast clouds and a small touch of rain. In 2026, only competitors and helpers were in attendance. This allowed for great participation and enthusiastic cheering of fellow House competitors.
It was great to see students and staff encouraging everyone to compete in events. Even though swimming isn't everyone's forte, so many students participated and gave it a go.
One such participant was Jude N (Year 9). His efforts in Lane 8 for Taylor House were of legendary status—trying his best to make it to the end, all the while with eagle‑eyed lifeguards walked next to him as he made his way slowly to the end of the pool. With everyone cheering him on, there was an absolute roar when he finally finished his 50m. This is just one account of how students participated, encouraged and cheered on everyone, even when that swimmer wasn’t in their House!
In the end, one House had to win the overall competition. It wasn’t down to having those three or four elite‑level swimmers, although they did have a couple of exceptional swimmers, but rather to the House’s participation rate. They filled almost every race and encouraged students to get in and have a go. This gave them points in every race and saw them streak away with the win.
With final results submitted and a CSEN team now being collated, I wish to congratulate Carey on winning the House competition.
