Year 10 students can select Café 10 as a semester-long elective subject this year and gain valuable skills for employment and training.
Partnering with ReadcloudVET, students undertake the Café Pathway Program, which provides essential skills for part-time work in the hospitality industry and enables them to complete four key units from a Certificate II in Hospitality. These pathway credits could later be applied towards certificates or specified courses in Hospitality, Tourism, Cookery or Events.
This new subject combines real-life learning with hands-on practical skills. At the end of the course, students will receive a reference letter they can use for future job applications.
Our Year 10s have already completed their barista training course in the city and have begun serving up the beans! Each week, they gain valuable experience running a café for staff and students—and we all get to enjoy great coffee in the process.
We look forward to many happy cups of coffee as the year progresses.
