Mill Valley Ranch Adventures
Year 5 students made tracks last week to Mill Valley Ranch for four days of activities, learning and fun. Lead by the energetic teachers of Year 5, with help from our College nurse and several parents and helpers, our Werribee and Melton students dived into life on the ranch. Top of the list of activities was horse riding, with students learning the basics of horsemanship from ranch staff and patient horses. Canoeing, chapel, games and songs were also great fun and built students’ teamwork, trust and sense of belonging. Students arrived back on Thursday quite tired but full of stories and having grown in independence and confidence.
Collecting Bottle Lids
Our Middle School classes are eagerly collecting milk bottle and other plastic lids each week this term. Organised by Senior School students with a passion for helping others, the lids will be donated to Envision Hands who recycle plastic lids into 3D printed prosthetic hands for child amputees. In our very first week of collecting, students brought in 580 lids which is enough for two hands. What a terrific effort! So please save those lids and bring them in.
Hats on to Beat the Burn
A reminder that Term 4 means it’s time to Slip Slop Slap again to stay safe in the sun. Students must wear their school hat at recess and lunch every day. Students are also encouraged to apply their own sunscreen and a small tube or roll-on sunscreen kept in their school bag will help to make this a regular healthy habit.
