The Year 8 Camp at Upper Plenty Conference Centre (UPCC) was an incredible experience of adventure, reflection, and spiritual growth. Nestled in the mountainous region of Upper Plenty, students explored the camp theme, "Becoming Who God Called You to Be," through engaging activities and powerful devotions.
The week began with a chapel session on Psalm 139 and John 3:16, reminding students of their God-given identity and His deep love for them. Activities such as Flying Fox, Geocaching, Gold Rush, and Crate Stack encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones and build resilience.
On Day 2, students reflected on Psalm 146:3, learning about trusting God’s plan and finding purpose. A creative yo-yo analogy illustrated how staying close to God allows Him to work in our lives. The day was filled with Outdoor Laser Tag, an Escape Room challenge, and the “We Survive” activity, promoting teamwork and problem-solving. The game was like a the-floor-is-lava outdoor activity, where students had to get from point A to point B without touching the ground. The evening’s Talent Night showcased students’ unique gifts, reinforcing the idea that each person is created with purpose. Congratulations to Cheyenne J., who won with her piano piece.
The final full day focused on Jeremiah 29:11, emphasising that God has a plan for each of us. Activities like Tube Slides, Rock Climbing, Gaga Ball, and Archery tested students’ courage and perseverance. The evening chapel session encouraged them to love others, display the Fruits of the Spirit, and be ambassadors of joy and service. The camp concluded with a choice of a relaxing movie night or a peaceful bushwalk, allowing students to unwind and reflect on the week.
A huge thank you to our teachers, staff, and parents for their support and prayers. Camp was a transformative experience, and we look forward to seeing students live out their faith and purpose in the weeks ahead.
