In my mind at least, this term is going quickly. So much has happened and is happening over the next few weeks. Among the events of this term have been the Athletics Day and Secondary Cross Country events.
We started with Unfortunately, due to the weather, our Athletics Day became an Athletics Morning; that common forecast of a couple of showers is one that is so uncertain. Many times, there is no rain. On our Athletics Day, we began well. Students in all year levels had finished their 100m races. We were all ready to get into the track and field events. Then, it rained. Technically, it showered. The problem was that we had such a downpour that we had to return to the College at lunch time.
Thankfully, we were able to hold the Secondary Cross Country on Monday with no such disruption.
In the last newsletter I mentioned that we began Term 2 with ten new students at the Melton campus. I write this week’s newsletter in the midst of enrolment interviews for next year.
There is much to look forward to in 2024! We will have two class groups in every Primary year level. Of course, we are also keenly preparing for our first VCE classes in 2024 as we extend our offerings with Year 11.
Please know that as we welcome this growth, we are also mindful that families often desire a Heathdale Christian College education because they share not just the values that we espouse but the beliefs that sit beneath these values. They desire a Christian education. This is why we exist as a College and something that remains at our core.
This week and in the first week of this term, we have held Parent Teacher Meetings. These are a great way for both parents and staff to engage in conversations about student learning, but there are also other ways to connect. Please also remember that parents of the College have access to Canvas, Heathdale Christian College’s learning management system. More information on this is readily available in the Parent Centre on the College’s website.
