A New Step Along the Journey

As we welcome students back to campus, we reflect on the precious milestones of Secondary schooling and share how families can partner with us to support student growth in 2026.

Welcome back! We are so thrilled to be starting a new year on campus. There is so much joy in seeing old familiar faces and meeting new ones. Our Secondary cohort at Werribee is just over 800 students this year, with more than 50 new students beginning with us last week.

I am not known for being particularly sentimental, but I must admit that the start and end of the school year always tug at my heart strings a bit. Those milestone moments, like starting a new year at school or graduating, remind me that the period of time we have when our children are really still children is a precious stage of life that flies by all too fast. The start of a new year seems to be particularly a moment for this reflection if you are sending off a Year 7 for their first year in Secondary or watching a Year 12 head towards adulthood. Of course, every year level is a special moment and another step.

This week we emailed home a reference list for your key contacts for each year level. In Secondary, with so many subjects and different teachers who support our students, it helps to know who you can reach out to as a first contact if you’ve got a question or a concern. I’d encourage you to save that reference sheet so that you can partner with us and reach out when you need to do so.

If the question you have is related to a specific class or subject, then Canvas will help you to be able to identify your child’s teacher for that class and contact them. If it is a more general matter about wellbeing, behaviour or organisation, your child’s homeroom teacher or Year Level Coordinator is your best first contact.

We look forward to working together to see our students grow and develop their potential in 2026.
