On the evening of Tuesday, September 3, students and their families gathered at Werribee Baptist Church for the Werribee Annual Music Showcase. Students from both the Primary and Secondary Schools participated, with approximately 270 performers. With so many students on stage throughout the evening, the performances were enjoyed by a full house of supportive parents, siblings and grandparents.

The event was hosted by our Year 9 Arts Captains - Aarav, Eva, Jesslyn, and Renuka - who worked diligently to ensure the performances went smoothly.

The Annual Music Showcase provided a wonderful opportunity for students in choirs and ensembles to present a program of exceptional quality to their loved ones. The students demonstrated the dedication they have shown throughout the year and highlighted the joy and rewards of participating in extracurricular music activities.

Performers included:

1/2 Choir
3/4 Choir
5/6 Choir
Concert Choir
Beginner Band
Concert Band
String Orchestra
5/6 Recorder Group
Battle of the Band Winners: Carey
Assembly Band

We were also treated to beautiful solos and duos from talented students:

Aashirya and Ely (guitar and vocals)
Kayleen (piano)
Keagan (piano)
Haylee (piano)
Nathaniel (violin)
Wei (piano)
Alyssa (vocals)

This year’s Showcase featured our newly formed 5/6 Recorder Group, led by Mrs. Pullar, and the Carey House Battle of the Bands winners, who performed the Motown classic hit, “Who’s Lovin’ You.” The evening concluded with the Assembly Band leading us in the worship song, “You Say I Am.”

With such a diverse range of ages and musical styles, the evening showcased the versatility of our music program at Heathdale. From Motown to folk songs, and Renaissance to Broadway, it was a performance not to be missed!

Among the many highlights, the song “Shoo Fly,” performed by our adorably confident 1&2 Choir, stayed with me the next day.

It was a blessing to share our talented musicians with the wider Heathdale community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to praise God through the gift of music. I extend my thanks to everyone who performed, the parents and family members who attended, the Werribee Baptist Church and sound technicians for their support, Miss Croxon for her behind-the-scenes work, and the Private, Instrumental, and Classroom teachers who encouraged and led our students. I look forward to seeing you all at our future performances!
