A Joyful End to the School Year

Following our recent Celebration Nights for Prep to Year 6, we reflect on the joy, growth and sense of community experienced during these special events.

By the time you read this, you will be happy and, hopefully, beautifully blessed by the work of the Prep to Year 5 students through their celebration nights and the Grade 6 Graduation Night. For those of you with children in Kinder, the wonder is still to come.

What wonderful nights they were! Our goals for these types of nights are:

- To glorify God in all we do and share the good news of the Gospel
- To provide an opportunity for community and spend time enjoying each other’s company
- To celebrate the year that has been and how your children have grown and learnt in our school

These goals were met a hundredfold.

For those of you who missed it, I thought I would share my poem from the celebration night, as it captures the essence of such a joyful time:

‘Twas the end of the Heathdale school year, and all through the halls,
Not a student was stirring, no bouncing off walls.
The classrooms were quiet, the chairs neatly in rows,
A hush fell upon us as we gathered close.

The teachers have worked with such patience and care,
Through every lesson and challenge they’d always be there.
Let’s thank them together for all they have done,
For the wisdom, the warmth, and the joy they’ve spun.

And let’s raise a cheer for our primary team too:
Mr. Lee, Mr. Haworth, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Tipping — it’s true!
They’ve led with great kindness, resolve, and delight,
Guiding our students in what’s good, true, and right.

And the children, how wonderful they’ve grown and they’ve learned,
Their laughter and kindness so lovingly earned.
They’ve worked through their lessons, been brave and been bright,
Shining each day like stars in the night.

Now, as we gather, let's remember the reason,
For this precious, holy, joy-filled season.
Long ago, in a stable so simple and small,
Our Savior was born, God’s love for us all.

The shepherds and angels rejoiced with great cheer,
And that joy we still hold close, year after year.
So as we say goodbye for now, and take our rest,
Let’s remember our Jesus, who loves us best.

Enjoy your holidays, be safe and have fun,
With family and friends, till this year is done.
We’ll see you again in the new year with joy,
Ready for learning, each girl and boy!

Merry Christmas to all, may your hearts be light,
God bless you and keep you, in His love and His light.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, and thank you for spreading the sparkle!
