The Melton Years 5/6 Girls AFL team made history this week as our school’s first ever girls AFL team to compete at this level.
The girls played brilliantly throughout the day, with standout performances from Evie B, Harley T, Liliana N, Grace S and Salome P.
A total of nine girls teams competed on the day. After finishing second in their pool, the team advanced to the Bronze Medal Playoff. In a thrilling nailbiter that went right down to the final minute, the girls held on courageously to claim a memorable one-point victory against Kurunjang Primary.
Every girl was effectively playing in her first ever AFL match, making the team’s achievement especially impressive.
Congratulations to all players on an outstanding achievement and for representing the school with great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship!
