It's been a big year for the Year 5/6 Volleyball team - and what a ride they have given us!
Both the boys' and girls' teams won the District and Division Championships and competed at Regionals last month for a place in the State Finals.
At Regionals, our Girls team won two pool matches for a place in the semi-finals but ultimately went down in three sets.
Our Boys' teams won all three pool matches to reach the Grand Final, and in a hard-fought match they went down fighting in two closely fought sets, just missing out on securing a place in the State finals with the eight best teams in the state.
Both teams were pretty shattered at the final whistle as they came to terms with not progressing, with a lot of raw emotion on display. Sport can be cruel sometimes, but as AFL coach Chris Scott, has said, "it's the price of admission - you have to risk this feeling to have a chance to do something great."
And just recently, we had our first Primary Volleyball Cross-Campus Competition against the Year 6 Werribee Boys and Girls Volleyball teams. They too have been training hard all year, and it was a high-quality match with great skills on display. However, Melton prevailed in both games without dropping a set!
I look forward to more primary cross-campus competitions in future as we go head-to-head with Werribee.
