Last week I received an email from one of our Year 7 students, Laura, and it was such a delight! While our Year 7 students started the year full of excitement and ready to lead the way in our brand-new secondary school, unfortunately they were only able to spend one full term together on campus due to COVID. Despite this, Laura took time out of her day to express to me that when she first arrived she felt so welcome and still feels so connected that she wanted to assist parents in choosing our school for their children in 2021. Laura wanted to take flyers to various places to promote the school. While we couldn’t ask her to do that in the current environment, we are working with Laura to help express her enthusiasm for Heathdale and grow her obvious leadership potential. Praise God that despite everything our students are managing to make the best of this situation and still love their school enough to share it with others.
Developing leadership potential in our students is an area Mr Court will be heading up over the next six weeks. If your child has any awesome ideas of how we can keep encouraging each other and supporting each other during this time, please ask them to contact their homeroom teacher or Mr Court. Don’t forget to keep listening to ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ – each episode goes for about 10 minutes. So if you just need a 10-minute breather please put this on and go and make a cuppa. I believe there will be a ‘Heathdale Bake Off’ coming up soon like the successful Lego Masters championships – stay tuned.
We have a small number of students onsite at the moment due to the recent Government changes and I would like to thank the staff onsite who are doing a wonderful job of supporting them. Rest assured that we will do all we can to keep your child connected and learning. Please don’t forget we have the new Year Level email addresses in case you have any questions. If your child is anxious or struggling with worry about the current situation please contact your homeroom teacher so we can link them in with our Pastoral Care team.
