Middle School incorporates students from Year 5 through to Year 8. It has the theme of growing and learning, as our students steer a course through the problematic transition years from primary to secondary education. Therefore there is a strong emphasis on building fundamental skills, habits and knowledge that become the foundation for learning.
Providing educational challenges and opportunities for personal growth help to provide a smooth transition from Junior School into Senior School, through the use of core teachers and a strong emphasis on the home group system to create a ‘family’ atmosphere.
Academic Language Program
Our Academic Language Program (ALP) is designed for Year 7 and 8 students whose love of learning needs to be fostered within a specially challenging environment. It is not designed to merely add to the increased secondary school workload, but to address a breadth and depth in their studies, particularly focusing on language studies.
Participants will receive a lot of intellectual stimulus and mind exercises, as the program is designed to train young minds and is therefore not primarily vocationally orientated. Students will have more classes in Latin as research has shown that this benefits studies both in English and in general studies. Year 7 participants study both French and Chinese for the whole year, while Year 8 students can choose either one.
